Each year, Deaf Camp must raise approximately $12,000 to pay for the camp's operating expenses.
The $12,000 needed for the camp to function is made up of expenses such as paying for the facility rental fees, recreational activities and the staff to run them, insurance, nurse, travel expenses for the evangelists, honoraria for the evangelists and teachers, room and food for the staff, printing, postage, handcraft supplies, teaching materials, office supplies and so forth.
EVERYONE CAN HELP!
How? Simple! Get involved in one of the fund-raisers for camp. Ask your boss if he/she can donate to the camp. Save items for handcrafts such as pop and water bottles, 6-pack rings, egg cartons, etc. Keep your eyes open for handcraft items such as beads and buttons at garage sales. During the "back to school sales", pick up an extra pack of pencils or pens, some paper, crayons, markers, paints, etc. Ask your church to support Deaf Camp as a Home Missions project.
I want to give money to the camp. How do I do that?
You can make donations to the camp through your local Assemblies of God church or directly to the Michigan District Assemblies of God. Donations can be made by check, money order or credit card.
Checks should be made payable to "Michigan District, Assemblies of God". NOTE IN THE MEMO LINE "FOR DEAF CAMP" to be sure it is deposited into our account. DO NOT say for Deaf Ministries - that is a separate account that we cannot use.
All donations are tax deductible under IRS guidelines for 501(c) (3) organizations.
Checks and money orders should be mailed to:
Michigan District, Assemblies of God
31500 W. Thirteen Mile Road, Suite 140
Farmington Hills, MI 48034
If you give your money through your church, your donation will be fully tax deductible AND your Assemblies of God church will receive credit for missions giving. Talk with your pastor about how you should mark your donation so it gets sent to the Michigan District for Deaf Camp.
I want to help in a fund-raiser. How do I get more information?
Check out the Other Events page for details on upcoming fund raisers. You can also do your own fund-raiser such as a car wash, bake sale, garage sale, walk-a-thon, penny drive, or other event.
To discuss ideas and schedules, please contact the director, Lynn McCain, either by clicking on the link or by calling 734-439-7314.
I have items to donate to camp. What should I do?
Contact Lynn McCain and let her know what you have. Depending on the item and where you are located, she will instruct you on the best way to donate the items.
I want to help at camp.
I am always looking for good, strong Christian people who are eager to serve God by ministering at camp. There are many opportunities to serve - dorm counselors, life guards, teachers, handcraft helpers, interpreters, office assistants...
Many of our workers come back every year to help - some drive 12 or 13 hours to come to camp. Workers are paid a $30 stipend - if the camp has the funds. Travel is reimbursed for our evangelists only.
If you don't care about not getting paid to serve and are eager to serve God and do your "job" plus whatever else may come up at camp - then contact me! I would love to talk with you about working at camp!
Finally - we need your PRAYER SUPPORT! Even if you cannot help in any other way - you can pray!
